Building the inside-sales layer that turns hospital account research into meetings
The company knew which hospital groups to target and who sat on each buying committee. Nobody owned turning that research into conversations until an inside-sales layer did.
- Challenge
Detailed hospital account research, with no team turning it into conversations.
- Approach
An inside-sales layer that works clinical and IT buyers in each researched account.
- Result
Meetings handed to field sellers with the buying committee already mapped.
The situation
Healthcare technology companies often invest in account research: priority hospital groups, their clinical systems, and the CIO, CMIO and nursing leaders on each buying committee. The research then sits in a slide deck while field sellers work tenders and existing customers. Clinical leaders ignore generic vendor outreach, and IT leaders rarely engage without a clinical sponsor. Meanwhile the research ages, leadership changes go unnoticed, and competitors reach the committee first.
The question that mattered
Who turns researched hospital accounts into meetings, and how do they engage clinical and IT buyers in the same account?
What we did
- 1
Turn research into account entry plans
Convert each account dossier into a plan: which stakeholder to approach first, which trigger to reference and which clinical problem to lead with.
- 2
Write messaging by role
Build separate outreach for CMIOs, nursing leaders and CIOs, leading with clinical workload and integration with the hospital information system.
- 3
Set healthcare qualification criteria
Define a sales-ready meeting: a clinical sponsor, a known IT approval route, integration fit and timing against the budget cycle.
- 4
Run multi-threaded outreach and handoff
Engage several stakeholders per account across email, social and research-led calls, then hand each meeting to field sellers with a committee map.
What we delivered
The evidence and working documents the team kept.
- Account entry plans built from the existing research
- Role-based messaging for clinical, nursing and IT leaders
- Healthcare qualification checklist for sales-ready meetings
- Buying-committee map and meeting brief for each handoff
- Operating rhythm with account research refresh and a weekly account review
The outcome
Researched accounts
worked, not filed
Clinical and IT buyers
engaged within the same account
Sales-ready meetings
defined by healthcare-specific criteria
Field sellers
entering meetings with the committee mapped
First meetings start from the hospital's clinical priorities and known integration constraints, not a product introduction.
What changed in the GTM motion
Account research now feeds a working inside-sales layer instead of a slide deck. Field sellers spend their time on qualified hospital groups, and the research is refreshed as leadership and systems change.
